So people in Israel are sitting in fancy restaurants and cheering their singer in the Eurovision while a few miles away way their forces block food and medicine for starving children. And then we hear that Jewish students feel uncomfortable about pro-Palestinian protests. I wonder if there is a connection

Are Jewish students in the US blocking food and medicine? Are pro-Palestinian protestors not eating in restaurants and listening to music? The irrational connection posed here does underline the root of discomfort felt by some Jewish students abroad: antisemitism. Students are uncomfortable because of calls made for the erasure of Israel itself, the insistence on doing so “by any means necessary,” and the accusation that they (Jewish students?) are “colonizers.” No matter how horrific the Israeli govt’s actions - it doesn’t mean that an entire country (including 7million Jews) will simply vanish.

Let's be clear: Israel's invasion of the Rafah border is a breach of the Egyptian Israeli peace agreement which puts limits on the troops of both sides of the border. Bibi is out of his mind and Prez. Biden is not doing what's right to stop a regional conflict.

The plight of the Palestinians is heartbreaking. The plight of Israeli hostages still in captivity and their families back home is heartbreaking. But Netanyahu and his right wing allies are prioritizing their own narrow political goals over rescuing the hostages, and easing the suffering of Palestinians. Their conduct is despicable and it is doing lasting damage to Israel's global standing.

It is truly hard to believe the level of sheer inhumanity that Israel has shown over these last seven months. I must say that my eyes have truly been opened during the course of this brutal war on the people of Gaza. I feel bad for having been so ignorant of the brutal occupation/violence that has Israel has been perpetrating against the Palestinian long before Oct 7.

All the voices from Holocaust survivors—all the books, the poems, the talks, the museums, the commemorations, the promise that “never again” would humans treat other humans so badly—it was all for naught.

We turn on the news today and all we see is humans treating each other horribly.

It is so discouraging. When I first visited the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, I was encouraged by such a heartfelt effort to make humans become sensitized to each other’s suffering.

But October 7th and the reaction to October 7th have completely disillusioned me.

Hamas just killed 4 Israelis via rocket attacks on the Kerem Shalom crossing, which was used to transport aid into Gaza from Israel. This prompted Israel’s incursion into Rafah and the subsequent takeover of that crossing. The only way to get Gazan civilians aid effectively is to remove Hamas from power, and quickly.

Purposely allowing civilians, and especially children, to starve because of the denial of humanitarian aid in a war is the highest level of inhumanity!
